is a holding company providing life insurance and
annuity products. The companies that form the
Americo family of companies include: Americo
Financial Life and Annuity Insurance Company
(formerly known as The College Life Insurance
Company, founded in 1946); The Ohio State Life
Insurance Company, founded in 1906; Great Southern
Life Insurance Company, founded in 1909. Other
companies include United Fidelity Life Insurance
Company, Financial Assurance Life Insurance Company,
and National Farmers Union Life Insurance Company.
Each of these companies has a long, successful
history on which Americo is building its future.
The history of the Americo companies includes
multiple benefit innovations. For example, in 1922,
Great Southern Life was the very first company in
America to insure the lives of children. In 1971,
Ohio State Life was the first to advance death
benefit monies to sustain the life of a
policyholder. In 1981, Great Southern Life was one
of the first American companies to offer universal
life insurance. More recently, we were one of the
first companies to introduce equity-indexed
universal life and annuity products.
Today, all sales and marketing activities are
facilitated through Americo with administrative
offices in Kansas City, Missouri. Americo offers its
independent agents life insurance and annuity
products specifically geared toward the mortgage,
senior, and general life insurance markets.
